Brooks Bandits forward Mirko Buttazzoni has been named the Alberta Division Player of the Week.

The Langley, B.C. product averaged two goals per game last week, finishing with six goals and seven points in a trio of Bandits wins.

Buttazzoni notched a hat trick in last Monday afternoon’s Family Day contest versus the Okotoks Oilers. The Clarkson University commit scored Brooks’ first two goals, then scored his hat trick goal in the middle of the second period, which stood up as the game-winner.

Next time out, Buttazzoni was all over the score sheet again, scoring twice in the Bandits 7-2 road victory over the Blackfalds Bulldogs on Friday night.

He wrapped up the week by burying the overtime-winning goal, his second game-winner of the week, in Brooks’ 3-2 extra time win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Saturday. He also notched an assist to make it three straight games with multiple points.

Buttazzoni now has 12 points in nine BCHL games to tie for third in Alberta Division scoring. His seven goals are tied for the most among his Alberta Division peers.
